English: Page 2 and 3 of Lucan’s De bello civili (alias Pharsalia), edited by Theodor Pulmann (also Pulman or Poelmann), printed by the Officina Plantiniana (Plantin) and Johannes/Jan Moretus in Antwerp in 1592.
On the left page (2), you see a Neolatin poem (Hexastichon) about Lucan’s work and the ex-libris of a former owner. On the right page (3) begins Pulmann’s foreword, a dedication letter to Nicolaus Rococcius. This foreword is dated (at the end) to 1564, the year of Pulmann’s 1st edition of Lucan’s poem, and treats the cruels of civil wars from ancient Rome to Pulmann’s own time. Deutsch: Seite 2 und 3 von Lucans Epos De bello civili (auch Pharsalia), herausgegeben von Theodor Pulmann (auch Pulman oder Poelmann), gedruckt von der Officina Plantiniana (Plantin) und Johannes/Jan Moretus in Antwerpen 1592. Links ein neulateinisches Gedicht (Hexastichon) über Lucans Werk und das Exlibris eines Vorbesitzers. Auf der rechten Seite (3) beginnt Pulmanns Vorwort, ein Dedikationsbrief an Nicolaus Rococcius.
