DescriptionLow Spur Archaeological Site.jpg |
English: Roadside view of a pond in the center of the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, located along the northern side of E400N about ¼ mile west of N1225E in Jackson Township, Jackson County, Indiana, United States. Present in this image, although not visible, is a major archaeological site, the Low Spur Archaeological Site. Used as a lithic reduction workshop around the end of the Archaic period, it lies on a strip of land very slightly elevated above the surrounding land; at wetter times, such as when this photograph was taken, the site readily floods. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. |
