Summary
[edit]DescriptionLove padlocks on the pont des Arts, 21 June 2014.jpg |
English: Between 1802 and 1804, under the reign of Napoleon I, a nine-arch metallic bridge for pedestrians was constructed at the location of the present day Pont des Arts (also called "Locks of Love" bridge): this was the first metal bridge in Paris.
In June 2014, part of the parapet of the 492-foot iron bridge collapsed under the weight of all of the padlocks that had been attached to it. |
