Description Lot 10625-12: Navy Day, October 27, 1945. Lowering the flag on the deck of USS Sailfish (SS 192) during Navy Day decommissioning ceremony at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, marks the final chapter in the life of the famous submarine. Originally, USS Squalus, she was resurrected from the water grave in which she carried 29 of her crew in 1939 and was ordered to the Pacific under a new name. Donated by Mr. Thomas J. Watson from a recording America’s tribute to its victorious fleet in first peacetime Navy Day since the start of World War Two. (7/17/2015).
