Description
Español: A fines del siglo pasado, la fábrica de hilados y tejidos El Dique construyó una pequeña presa para captar las aguas del manantial Tlalmecapan con el fin de generar energía motriz; así se formó un pequeño lago que los xalapeños de ese entonces ya utilizaban para realizar paseos dominicales y navegar en lanchas. Varias veces fué desecado y en sus orillas se formaron zonas pantanosas. Al demolerse la fábrica el paseo quedó abandonado y el lago quedó reducido a un estanque insalubre. Durante la administración del gobernador Rafael Murillo Vidal (1968-1974) se emprendieron los trabajos para rescatar, ampliar y embellecer esa zona; se construyeron dos lagos más y se reacondicionó el que ya existía. Los lagos fueron dotados de agua en 1970 y se reinauguraron en 1973. En la actualidad, lo que se conoce como Los Lagos de El Dique, es una amplia zona donde se encuentran parte de la Las Lomas de El Estadio, cerca de las instalaciones de la Universidad Veracruzana, paseos y parques infantiles, un tradicional barrio con habitantes recelosos de su territorio y, sobre todo, un verde espacio rodeando a dos estanques que le dieron fama a ese lugar.
