Description
English: Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. April 1970. A large crowd watches the start in the Long Dien to Baria 5000 metre race run on Hung Vuong day, which commemorates the birth of an ancient king. It is one of the most important days on the Vietnamese calendar. Twenty five Australians and New Zealanders and twelve Vietnamese took part in the race, which was designed to help foster understanding and co-operation between the soldiers of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Base at Nui Dat and people of the Province.
