English: Transformation under way at Hyde Park Corner, 1962. View eastward from Knightsbridge, towards Piccadilly, Apsley House in centre and Park Lane to the left. Major road construction in the form of the Hyde Park Corner Underpass is under way and will be open in six months time (17/10/62). Beyond on Park Lane, the great London Hilton Hotel is rising as a new major landmark and will be open in 1963. |
