English: Lodge for Poyston Hall Oddly-shaped gate lodge guarding the entrance to Poyston Hall. The stone pillars on either side of the gateway are known, ?locally, as gate castles and they often have an upright stone on top as in this case. (I have read that traditionally the stones represented male and female according to shape!). |
