Summary
[edit]DescriptionLochend Crag - geograph.org.uk - 1607061.jpg |
English: Lochend Crag The Crag, somewhat defaced by modern graffiti, marks the spot where the De Lestalrics, from which Restalrig takes its name, built their castle in a well-defended position overlooking the loch. Their successors, the Logans, replaced it with a fortified house, a fragment of which survives at the southern edge. As the feudal superiors of Leith, the family prospered until the loss of their lands in 1600, following Sir Robert Logan's involvement in the attempt to kidnap James VI, known as the 'Gowrie Conspiracy'. |
