Summary
[edit]DescriptionLlandruidion - geograph.org.uk - 405820.jpg |
English: Llandruidion Large former farm whose C18/19 outbuildings are being converted into a well-being centre + accommodation. A neolithic burial chamber here was destroyed long ago. Various artefacts associated with it have however been found and preserved. The name means Druids' (holy) place.
An informant suggests "Llandruidion means special place of the lesser Saint Druidion and records suggest it has early christian roots and stone coffins were located nearby but subsequently destroyed. Two latin inscribed stones known as the Llandruidion stones are now in St Nicholas Church." [With thanks to Brian Jackson] |
