Description

L'hôtel-brasserie Excelsior, ouvert en 1911, est un des fleurons art nouveau de l'Ecole de Nancy. Il a été classé monuments historique en 1976 après avoir failli être démoli lors de l'époque de rénovation du quartier de la gare, menée par des élus et des promoteurs affairistes et incultes.

L'immeuble est aujourd'hui transformé en appartements, la brasserie est exploitée par le groupe Flo.

Les architectes du bâtiment sont Lucien Weissenburger (1860-1929) et Alexandre Mienville (1876-1959)

C'est l'aménagement intérieur de la brasserie qui est le plus caractéristique de l'école de Nancy, tous les grands créateurs nancéiens du début du siècle y ont collaboré et le résultat est un chef d'oeuvre à ne pas manquer !

Les ateliers de Louis Majorelle pour le mobilier et les lustres, les ateliers Daum pour les lampes en pâte de verre, Léopold Wolff pour les sculptures, Jacques Gruber pour les vitraux, et d'autres encore.
