Summary
[edit]DescriptionLinlithgow Marches - geograph.org.uk - 1357747.jpg |
English: Linlithgow Marches. See 1357695 for details. The two fife players and their drummer, all in Glengarry bonnets, standing beside the flag bearer would have been on the streets since five in the morning when they paraded the town to waken the locals in advance of the town's festivities. The top hatted gentlemen behind the standard are members of the Fraternity of Dyers, a trade organisation which can trace its history back to 1670 and is reputedly the second oldest such organisation in Britain after the Dyers of London. |
