Summary
[edit]DescriptionLincoln logs at Big Brother Mouse activity day.jpg |
English: Construction toys such as Lincoln Logs are largely unknown in Laos, a developing country in Southeast Asia. This high school student, who had never before seen them, found several novel adaptations as she built a Lao-style house. Some logs were used as stilts, a housing style common in many Lao villages. The very short logs made a ladder. |

Lincoln Logs, donated by a supporter who carried them from the United States, were one of more than 30 hands-on activities offered at a "Discovery Day" sponsored by Big Brother Mouse, a literacy and education project. Non-rote, interactive educational opportunities are rare in Laos. The Discovery Days include more than 30 activities such as bridge-building, anatomy models, fossil and mineral collections, optical illusions, microscopes, and number games.
