Summary
[edit]DescriptionLincoln Station, Lincoln - geograph.org.uk - 1222525.jpg |
English: Lincoln Station, Lincoln Class A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' heads an eleven vehicle train, which is too long for Lincoln's platform, so the locomotive crawls into the station under the control of a flagman. The train is framed by the new signalling system. Quite amazing how much more steel is required to do the same job as a semaphore signal.
To the right is an unidentified Class 142 two-car DMU, 96 of which were built based on the Leyland Bus, by BREL Derby, between 1985-1987. They were numbered 142001-142096. Mention has been made many times of the uncomfortable ride these four-wheel vehicles give and that is my experience too. The faint dark line that runs from between the last and next to last coach, across the tracks to the right-hand platform ramp, is where there used to be crossing boards. Passengers were allowed to cross the tracks here and unassisted, as I noted. |
