Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Down on the left : Cryofracture a rubble limestone. It was a rectangular stone that was extracted from the inner part of a fortification built by Vauban (Citadelle Vauban de Lille). This stone, probably taken from a "Catiche" near Lille was exposed to air for a period of freezing. The disintegration occurred in a few days. It is a very accelerated form of cryoclastic Weathering (fragmented rock by hard frost).
