Description
English: Lightning Oak. This oak tree was struck by lightning some years ago and fortunately it has survived thus far although much of it appears to have lost the battle. Woodpeckers love to tap its bark looking for insects. The village sign is surrounded with Meadowsweet, a favourite of Queen Elizabeth I. It was strewn over the floors of a room to freshen the atmosphere with its fragrant flower heads.
