Summary

Description

Refuge Manager, Brian Collins, explaining how to release the light-footed Ridgway's rails on-site.

Light-footed Ridgway's rail is a federally endangered bird. Partners from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and Living Coast Discovery Center are helping the imperiled bird recover through a captive-breeding and release program. Today (09/28/17) we released 5 birds into the wild at Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad, CA.
