Description Construction of the Liberty ship SS Frederick Douglass at Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyards Inc., Baltimore, Maryland (USA) in May 1943. The Frederick Douglass was already torpedoed and sunk by the German U-boat U 645 in convoy ON-202 on 20 September 1943 at 57.03N 28.08W.
