English: Liberated Prisoners of War in Rangoon, Burma, May 1945
Liberated POWs at Rangoon jail, 3 May 1945. Major McLeod, a Canadian doctor who served with the Indian Medical Service, inspects one of his patients, Corporal J Usher, whose leg he had to amputate during their captivity.
According to this source: https://www.chinditslongcloth1943.com/roll-call-u-z.html the men were amputated due to infected jungle sores. John Albert Usher, of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, died aged 69 in the winter of 1985.
