[edit]DescriptionLevon II2.jpg |
English: 1272 Armenian manuscript, from "Le Royaume Armenien de Cilicie", photographed by Claude Mutafian "The Gospel [of Queen Keran] was commissioned by Queen Keran for her husband and future king Levon of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. It was copied by the scribe Avetis in the capital city of Sis in 1272 and illustrated by Roslin. The manuscript was bound in Jerusalem in gold repousse work by the monks of the St James Brotherhood. The front cover represents the Crucifixion, and the back the Virgin and Child; on the claps are the four Evangelists." |
