English: Dear Charlie: I must confess that in my effort to keep up with current Arctic literature-- such as the Welzl effusion-- I've neglected many of the classics, among them being Sir John Richardson's 'Arctic Searching Expedition.' I have not even got round to reading the four-volume first edition of Franklin's 'Journey to the Shores of the Polar Sea' which my father presented to me. One should hardly go on lecture tours in the guise of an authority on Polar matters without having absorbed most of the ancient as well as modern literature on the subject, I suppose, and therefore I am anxious to make amends. It's kind of you to offer to send me the Richardson book and I'll certainly read it if you do. The other day I finished reading an extremely interesting autobiography by a friend of mine, Captain Henry Toke Munn, erstwhile trader and gold-seeker in the Eastern Arctic, in which, to my infinite satisfaction, he tears apart the Hudson's Bay company and the missionaries. The book is called 'Prairie Trails and Arctic By-Ways', published by Hurst and Blackett, London, and distributed in Canada by Ryersons, Toronto. I'm glad that the posse discovered the innocence of Liguori and yourself in time to prevent your being ignominiously strung up!
