English: 9 August 1944
Dear Dad: Just a few lines to let you know I am O.K., but as yet have not reached my ultimate destination. I had no opportunity to write from ‘Friscoe as I went aboard ship the day I arrived there. Thank Mr. Carlson again for the Bourbon. Someone lifted one bottle between Washington and ‘Friscoe, but the other five were enjoyed by all hands on the way out here. All for the present.
