Description
English: "February 21, 1943

Dear Dad: I’ve finally gotten around to writing again, but I’ll depart from my ordinary procedure and delete my excuses for failing to write before this.

I received your third package about two weeks ago. Thanks a million and listen to the story that goes with it.

All packages, that are thought to contain food, are opened with the greatest dispatch. Yours was no exception, but you can imagine our feelings when the first can extracted was found to contain “Vienna Sausages”. Here’s the thought behind that. For the past eleven months we have practically lived on Vienna Sausages to the exclusion of everything else. We’ve had them at least once a day and we’ve eaten them every style from “Cold Buffet Supper” to “French Fried”."
