[edit]
Description
English: Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria) First sign of spring at Byron's Pool local nature reserve. This plant is a member of the buttercup family, and not related to the Greater Celandine which is a kind of poppy. The name of both derives from the Greek χελιδόνιον,in turn related to χελιδονών = a swallow. Ancient writers stated that the flowers appeared at the time of the arrival of the swallows.
