Summary

[edit]
Description

The Leshan Giant Buddha has survived 1200 years of rainfall and earthquakes, including the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, but now air pollution is taking its toll - the Buddha is suffering a blackened nose and smears of dirt across the face.

Since 1996, the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
