Stèles commémoratives autour du stade olympique Ces stèles, voulues par Hitler en 1934, étaient destinées à honorer les vainqueurs allemands des différents Jeux Olympiques depuis leur origine en 1896 à Athènes. Les noms des sportifs concernés ont été gravés sur la tranche de chaque stèle.
Ce stade a été construit à partir de 1934, sous le régime national-socialiste dirigé par Hitler, pour les Jeux Olympiques de 1936 qui se sont tenus à Berlin. L'architecte : Werner March l'a conçu dans le style fasciste de l'époque. Les nazis ont largement utilisé ce stade ainsi que les aménagements de ce quartier de Berlin (le Champ de mai ou Maifeld est à proximité dans l'axe est-ouest) pour organiser leurs grandes manifestations de propagande. Le stade a été modernisé entre 2000 et 2004 par les architectes von Gerkan, Marg et Partner (GMP) pour accueillir la Coupe du monde de football de 2006. Il peut recevoir 75.000 spectateurs et dispose d'aménagements, d'éclairages et de services de haut niveau. La rénovation n'a pas changé profondément l'allure extérieure du stade, un toit couvrant les tribunes et ouvert au-dessus de la porte du Marathon lui a été ajouté Hormis la surélévation de l'édifice d'origine de quelques mètres, le toit donne une impression de plus grande légèreté à l'ensemble. site du stade www.olympiastadion-berlin.de/ |
