Description

Ensemble symbolisant la source dans l'Himalaya des 4 fleuves sacrés (lac mythique Anavatapta) au centre du temple Lolei

Lolei vient du nom sanscrit Hariharalaya, c'est à dire la ville du dieu Harihara, qui est un dieu associant Vishnu, et Shiva créé par les khmers.

Le temple Lolei est consacré au culte shivaïte, il a été construit par le Roi Yashovarman 1er (889-910) Il fait partie des trois temples du groupe de Rolûos (situé à 15 Km de Siemreap), et son style est semblable à celui du temple Preah Kô.

Le temple se dresse au centre d'un bassin réservoir (Baray) aujourd'hui asséché, il est composé de quatre tours construites en briques avec des encadrements de fausse-porte et de fenêtre en grès et des sculptures également en grès intégrées aux murs.

Comme Preah Kô, Lolei est un temple commémoratif dédié aux ancêtres du roi.
