Портрет работы Петра Захарова-Чеченца. Масло. 1834.

Этот портрет, как свидетельствует А.М. Меринский, товарищ Лермонтова по Школе юнкеров, Арсеньева заказала в 1834 году, сразу по производству внука в корнеты. Здесь Поэт изображён в натуральную величину, погрудно, в вицмундире лейб-гвардейского гусарского полка, в шинели, наброшенной на правое плечо, с треуголкой в левой руке. [1]

Портрет работы чеченца Петра Захарова, Российского академика живописи. См. книгу в. кн. Михаила Романова "Знаменитые россияне", где этот портрет признан одним из лучших и достоверных из 14 прижизненных портретов поэта. (М. Вахидова).

После депортации чеченцев, под чистку попал и единственный художник-чеченец XIX века, Пётр Захаров. Картина была приписана Ф. О. Будкину.
