English: Leon Thorn (born as Leon Leib Yehuda Thorn on 22 July 1907 in Schodnica near Drohobycz in Galicia, Cisleithania, Austria-Hungary, deceased as Leon Thorne on 23 February 1978 in Brooklyn, New York State, USA) during the Holocaust hid for 53 weeks in a small private bunker beneath the light shed (pigsty) which can be spotted on the left of this picture postcard. The company nameplate on the right says the same as the imprint of this picture postcard: Kopalnie nafty Bracia Backenroth = fossil oil Backenroth Bros.
Deutsch: Leon Leib Yehuda Thorn (geboren am 22. Juli 1907 in Schodnica bei Drohobycz in Galizien, Cisleithanien, Österreich-Ungarn, gestorben als Leon Thorne am 23. Februar 1978 in Brooklyn, Bundesstaat New York, Vereinigte Staaten) hielt sich während der Schoáh gemeinsam mit anderen über die Zeitspanne von 53 Wochen in einem kleinen privaten Bunker unterhalb des hellen Schuppens (Schweinestall) versteckt, den man in der linken Bildhälfte erkennen kann. Die Aufschrift auf dem Firmenschild rechts entspricht dem Aufdruck der Ansichtskarte: Kopalnie nafty Bracia Backenroth = Fossiles Öl (Erdöl) Gebrüder Backenroth.
