| Description |
English: Leaving Guide Bridge A panoramic view of the east end of Guide Bridge station from a train to Marple leaving on the fast lines, in 1977 the main lines for passenger traffic. Added later, the fast lines had a curve through the station, plus some very nasty pointwork, including the double-slip in the foreground, all of which conspired to keep speeds low and maintenance high. With closure of the Woodhead route, the opportunity was taken to move all traffic to the original pair of lines on the right which now (2008) carry all traffic. |
