| Description |
English: Leamington Lift Bridge, Union Canal Leamington Lift Bridge road deck rising to permit passage of an approaching launch. This bridge originally carried Fountainbridge across the canal just beyond the present terminus at Edinburgh Quay but was moved here in the late 1920s when the canal was cut back from its original terminus in Lothian Road. When the bridge was restored in 2002 it was closed to vehicles and only cyclists and pedestrians may now use it. When it in the raised position there is a footbridge so that pedestrians in a hurry can still cross the canal. |
