Title
Lead Fowling and Musket Shot from Kirton in Lindsey
Description
English:

Lead

Shot. Three cast musket balls (a-c) and a probable fowling piece shot (d). Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1700-1800. Diameters and weights: a) 18.3mm, 34.74gms; b) 17.9mm, 29.49gms; c) 16.5mm, 25.38gms - the facetted appearance of this ball might suggest it to have formed part of a charge of canister, fired from a larger gun; d)13.2mm, 11.67gms. The frequency of shot suitable for muskets, probably of the later 18th century rather than earlier, is an unusual feature of this group; most shot reported is more like (d), used for shooting birds, rabbits or vermin.

Overall Weight: 101.27gms.
