LE FORT RÉMY. Le fort Rémy a dû être appelé le fort de la Chine à lori-«ïne, de 1671 jusquà larrivée de M. Rémy, en 1680. Le mou-lin à vent quy bâtit en 1671 Jean Millot, cessionnaire de LaSalle, a dû servir de fort. M. Faillon, page 354, nous dit quilétait fait en maçonnerie en forme de tour et de la hauteurordinaire des moulins à vent, et pour servir de redoute.Il était entouré dune palissade de pieux, comme toutes lesredoutes. Il coûta mille écus. Millot labandonna au Sémi-naire le 2 septembre 1673 comme une charge insupportable. (1) Morin fait erreur lorsquil inclique le fort de Lachine comme étant distinct dufort Rémy. On trouve au greffe dAntoine Adhémar, 17juillet L713, une opposition de Rolland à la vente par décretdu fort Rolland, ses terres et dépendances. Rolland était traiteur et un personnage important. Le re-sement de 1681 lui compte cinq domestiques. Le 19 sep-tembre 1682, le gouverneur de la Nouvelle-France, le comtede Frontenac, fut le parrain de sa fille Magdeleine avec Ma-dame Perrot, la femme du gouverneur de Montréal. M.
