Le pavillon Trung Lop est situé devant le palais, il abritait au début du 20ème siècle une statue de Khai Dinh. Le palais est construit au bord de la rivière An Cuu En 1916, le gouvernement colonial français a installé Khai Dinh sur le trône du Vietnam. (voir son tombeau). Ce roi au pouvoir limité était passionné d'architecture occidentale et en particulier d'époque baroque. Il fit construire le palais An Dinh de 1916 à 1918 en briques, fer, acier et ciment. Sa décoration intègre des motifs et des peintures baroques. Khai Dinh donna ce palais à son fils Bao Dai, qui est devenu empereur à sa mort en 1925. Après son abdication en 1945, Bao Dai habita le palais avec sa famille et avec sa mère Tu Cung. Celle-ci y vécut jusqu'en 1975, alors que Bao Dai était parti vivre en France.
