Le Louroux (Indre-et-Loire) Le Prieuré (Médiéval et Renaissance). Le pigeonnier.
Un abbé de Marmoutier, Hugues des Roches, fit fortifier le prieuré de Louroux au XIIIème siècle. A partir du XVIe siècle, le prieuré est abandonné. Le prieuré fut vendu comme Bien National en 1791. Le prieuré se compose : - d’un logis du prieur du XIème siècle, remanié jusqu’au XVIème siècle, - d’une grange dîmière datant du XVe siècle - d’une grange classique, - de l’église St Sulpice du XIIIème siècle - d’un pigeonnier. L'étang du village, creusé par les moines, est un des plus vastes d'Indre-et-Loire. Sa vocation était piscicole.
Le grand bâtiment en face de la maison du prieur servait d’hébergement ou de dortoir aux moines qui l’habitaient. L'ancienne ferme du prieuré. Elle date des XIIIe, XVe et XVIe siècles. Elle a conservé son mur d'enceinte et ses douves. Près de l'église se trouve une grange dîmière* du 15ème siècle ainsi qu'une grange dite "avancée" (grange à auvent). Eglise saint-Sulpice (XIIIème siècle et 1710) C'est l'église de l'ancien prieuré. Fondation de l'église Saint-Sulpice de Oradorio en 991 ou 993 par l'archevêque de Tours Archambault. Oradorio deviendra Loratorio, puis Lorouer et enfin Louroux. L'église serait devenue prieuriale au XIe siècle. L'édifice actuel est constitué d'une simple nef du XIIIème siècle couverte par une voûte en lambris éclairée par de petites fenêtres en plein-cintre. Le clocher quadrangulaire, est de la même époque. Il est percé dans sa partie haute et sur chaque face de deux petites baies en plein cintre. Le choeur rectangulaire est édifié au tout début du XVIIIème siècle (1710). Le pigeonnier ou la fuye. Circulaire, typique du 15ème siècle, il comporte environ 1 400 boulins*. Positionné à l’écart des habitations (d’où l’appellation traditionnelle en Touraine de fuye),
