Sanvic - Rue du Fort The Sainte-Adresse fortress was built in 1854-58, during the Second Empire, according to the model of military architecture inherited from Vauban. It serves first of cantonment to battalions of artillery. The military base was decommissioned in 1979. In 2000, the municipality of Le Havre decided to buy the abandoned fort. In 2005, it was decided to convert it into a botanical garden and a place for a walk. The Hanging Gardens were inaugurated on September 20, 2008. |
