Au cours de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle, les Expositions universelles rythment la vie des capitales européennes. Au fil des Expositions, l'imagination des architectes rivalise avec l'audace des organisateurs, et si certaines constructions grandioses sont détruites une fois la fête terminée, d'autres, comme la tour Eiffel (1889) ou le Grand Palais (1900), changent définitivement le visage de la capitale. Le pont Alexandre-III a été construit pour créer une nouvelle perspective vers les Invalides à l'occasion de l'Exposition Universelle de 1900. www.grandpalais.fr/ |
