English: An Up returning holiday express struggles through Lawrence Hill station towards Filton Junction. View southward, towards Bristol Temple Meads and the West Country; ex-Great Western Bristol & South Wales Union line. Express locomotive power was at a premium on this peak Summer Saturday and LMS 4F 0-6-0 No. 44167 was being used on a Paignton - Nottingham relief, which will have taken over from a GW engine at St Philips Marsh on the Bristol Relief line and is routed up through Filton to Yate and the Midland line. |
