Description

Lavardin (Loir-et-Cher)

Eglise Saint-Genest.

Début de construction probablement vers la moitié du XIe siècle.

La nef à bas-côtés couverte d'une voûte lambrissée. Les bas-côtés présentent des arcs-diaphragmes* reliant les piliers aux murs latéraux. Les grandes arcades en plein cintre* reposent sur des piles carrées ornées d'un simple imposte* à décor de rinceaux* feuillagés ou d'animaux fantastiques. (Notice office du tourisme)

  • Un arc-diaphragme supporte un diaphragme, c’est-à-dire un pan de mur plein et dégagé divisant une voûte ou un plafond.
  • Plein cintre = en demi cercle.
  • Imposte: Pierre dure, en saillie, qui fait la liaison entre l'arc et le pilier carré. L'imposte est à la pile ce que le chapiteau est à la colonne.
  • Rinceau: ornement de sculpture, souvent une arabesque de feuillage, de fleurs, etc...
