Description

Lavardin (Loir-et-Cher)

Le pont sur le Loir (15e siècle).

Le pont a été construit à partir du début 13e siècle.

Le pont comportait autrefois huit arches gothiques. Cinq arches ont conservé leur forme en arc brisé. Trois ont été recontruites en plein cintre, après leur destruction par l'armée en 1870, pour retarder l'avancée de l'ennemi.

Piles en éperon en amont et en aval. Parapets de pierre dont les angles supérieurs sont chanfreinés.

En amont, le pont est équipé d'avant becs, pour diminuer la poussée du courant, qui datent vraisemblablement du XVe siècle.

Le pont était protégé par une tour fortifiée qui a été détruite au 18e siècle. Les piles sont d'origine ainsi que les arches ogivales. Les trois arches centrales étaient probablement déjà en plein cintre au 17ème siècle (un dessin de Nicolas Poictevin datant d'environ 1680 montre déjà des arches en plein cintre).
