Summary
[edit]DescriptionLauder Light Railway - geograph.org.uk - 1722872.jpg |
English: Lauder Light Railway Trackbed and embankment, Threeburnford. The railway opened in 1901 after the Light Railways Act 1896. The act allowed an easier planning process to fill gaps in the rural railway network, as long as the rolling stock was of restricted weight and no of axles. Many of the small railways opened just in time for competition from motor coaches and few survived for long. The Lauder carried passengers for just 30 years. |
