Description |
English: Starting in 1906, under a new Superintendent of Schools, the Seattle public school system greatly expanded its curriculum. Most schools now offered music as an integral part of the curriculum, and many had a school orchestra. Here, in 1919, the members of the orchestra at Seattle's Latona Elementary School pose with instruments and their director for a formal photograph.
