This appears to be a decaying example of a Snow Plant, (Sarcodes sanguinea). Another example can be found at [1]
- However, the Snow Plant only grows in America. This was photographed in Europe.
- The snow plant, Sarcodes sanguinea, is the only member of a monospecific genus in the Monotropoideae (Ericaceae) and occurs throughout the Sierra Nevada of California as well as in southern Oregon, western Nevada, and northern Mexico (Wallace, 1975). [2] Bogdan 09:40, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
