Late Upper Paeleolithic flake
Description
English: Later Upper Palaeolithic secondary flake (15,000-8,300 BC). The flake surface shows evidence cortex reforming giving an indication of the age of the flake, it is also patinated from light grey to white reflecting the deposition chalk downland.

There is a prepared platform at the proximal end. On the dorsal surface (upper face) there are arrises from previous flake removals. There is original cortex remaining at the distal end and in patches near the distal end on the left edge of the dorsal face. There is a small area of starch fracture towards the centre of the left edge on the ventral face. On the ventral surface (lower face) a diffuse bulb of percussion can be seen. Weight: 39.23g, Length: 71.74mm, Width: 40.22mm, Thickness: 17.29mm.

These flints form part of a large collection of lithic implements and associated waste flakes from several concentrations on the Seven Sisters; see SUSS-80DBC3.
