[edit]DescriptionLargest helicopter in the US Navy lands on HMS Queen Elizabeth MOD 45165139.jpg |
English: Pictured on the Flight Deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth is a MH-53E Sea Dragon, the United States Navy’s biggest helicopter (in the background is a RN Merlin).
The UK carrier was off the East coast of the USA conducting test flights of the F-35B Lightning jet. The huge MH-53E Sea Dragon from the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15 (HM-15) also known as the Blackhawks are based at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, can carry 55 troops and will offer the Royal Navy additional lift capability when the two allied nations operate side by side in future. The Sea Dragon is the long-range minesweeping and Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) version of The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion.
