Summary
[edit]DescriptionLantern, Belfast (3) - geograph.org.uk - 1194982.jpg |
English: Lantern, Belfast (3). This lantern is on what was originally the Exchange building/market house of 1769 at the corner of Lower North Street 488671 and Waring Street 969731. It was added to by Robert Taylor in 1776 and became the Assembly Rooms. The present building is a mainly a product of Lanyon's re-modelling of 1845 and Lynn's internal modifications of 1895. There were also external alterations by Lynn in 1875 and by GP&RH Bell as recently as 1956. The lantern dates from 1919 when a new "link block" was added by Tulloch and Fitzsimons. It was once the head office of the Belfast Bank. |
