Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The "Lambe Sujo x Caboclinhos" festivity tells the story of the African slaves and how their escapes and schemes made the "Captães de mato" - roughly translating "The Captain of the woods" confused. The term "Lambe Sujo" itself comes from the camouflage the slaves applied over their bodies to make the escape easier. The fugitive slaves established villages, which they called "Quilombos", on the land of the indians, thus initiating a series of conflicts and battles over the land. These conflicts are acted out during the festivities. Such event takes place once every year, on the second Sunday of October.
