Description
English: Before the Lake Washington Ship Canal connected Lake Washington with Lake Union in 1916, the level of Lake Washington was about nine feet higher than it is today. This photo, taken around 1910, shows a shady stretch of Lake Washington shoreline before the lake level was lowered. Driftwood has washed up on the shore and reeds grow in the shallow water.
