Description

La salle de la Tribune, conçue probablement par Giovanni Grimani lui-même, renfermait autrefois cent trente sculptures anciennes parmi les plus précieuses de la collection familiale.

La sculpture "l’Enlèvement de Ganymède" qui est suspendue au centre de la salle, date de la deuxième moitié du II siècle après J. C, c'est une réplique romaine d’un modèle hellénistique.

En 1587, Giovanni Grimani fit don de sa collection à la République de Venise. Elle fut installée par l’architecte Vincenzo Scamozzi dans l’antichambre de la Libreria Marciana, créant ainsi l'un des premiers musées publics en Europe.

Aujourd’hui, la plupart des oeuvres de la collection Grimani se trouvent au Musée National d’Archéologie sur la Place Saint-Marc.
