Une des deux tours de la porte de Francfort Frankfurter Tor (Frankfurt Gate)

Deux tours, de style éclectique, couronnées de dômes (architecte Hermann Henselmann) marquent l'entrée de la Karl-Marx-Allee au niveau de la porte de Francfort. La Karl-Marx-Allee se poursuit néanmoins de l'autre coté du boulevard. Les façades de ces logements de prestige à l'époque de la RDA sont recouvertes de céramiques de Meissen.

La forme de ces dômes rappelle celle des églises de la Gendarmemmarkt à Berlin, cette citation est une référence à l'histoire artistique de la Prusse dans un ensemble architectural inspiré essentiellement par l'architecture socialiste de l'URSS.

Ces bâtiments ont été construits en 1957-1960, ils étaient parmi les derniers du programme d'urbanisme.
